Write Better, Build Smarter & Scale Faster
Welcome to the Write • Build • Scale Sunday Digest, where we help you grow your audience and income with simple strategies, creative ideas, and zero fluff.
This week, we're talking about something every creator wrestles with:
👉 Which platforms are actually worth your time?!
If you're new to your creator journey or pursuing the next exciting goal, it might be tempting to think that you need to be everywhere: TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Substack, Instagram, podcasts…
But spreading yourself too thin is the fastest way to creator burnout - especially if you're just starting out or running a one-person show.
🎯 How to Decide If a Platform Is Worth It
Here are three simple questions we ask ourselves before committing to a new platform:
- Does it fit my strengths?
If you love writing but hate being on camera, YouTube might not be your best starting point.
- Does it match my audience?
If your dream readers aren’t on TikTok, you don’t need to be there either.
- Can I stay consistent for 6+ months?
Most platforms reward consistency. If you can’t commit to showing up regularly, it’s not worth the effort.
Before you jump on the next shiny platform, pause and answer these three questions honestly. You’ll save yourself time and double your focus where it matters most.
🎙 We said YES: The Write • Build • Scale Podcast is Here!
We've asked ourselves the three questions above months ago and decided to launch the Write • Build • Scale podcast to create more touch points with our audience (more on that later!)
And now it's finally here - the first episode, “Five Lessons from Building a 7-Figure Creator Business,” is live now on Substack and all major podcast platforms! 🙌
👀 Look Behind the Scenes
At Write • Build • Scale, we believe that your ability to stay focused makes or breaks the success of your creator business.
That's why we don't rush into projects or collaborations and take our time to validate whether an addition to the business will help us grow in the right direction without being a big burden.
The ability to make these types of long-term decisions has been crucial in building a business that allows us to live on our own terms.
To give you a better understanding of how we make these decisions and why we've specifically decided to launch a podcast and a separate YouTube channel within the past month, we recorded a behind-the-scenes video:
🎥 Is Substack The Right Platform For You?
In this week's video, I tackle a question I get asked constantly:
“How much money can you actually make writing on Substack right now?”
In the video, I break down:
- ✅ How exactly you make money on Substack
- ✅ The hidden variables that affect growth (beyond just “good writing”)
- ✅ Why Substack might be the right (or wrong) platform for you
If Substack is on your radar, this will help you make a smarter decision based on your current goals.
One Last Thought Before You Go…
The best creators don’t chase every platform.
They pick one or two that play to their strengths and double down until it works.
I've written exclusively on Medium for years before I started to invest any time or energy into other platforms.
This has helped me understand content creation at its core, build a loyal following, and use my time effectively.
This week, ask yourself:
- Which platform has already given you the most traction?
- Where can you confidently show up every week without dread?
- What would happen if you went all in on that platform for 6 months?
Chances are, the growth you’re looking for won’t come from adding something new.
It’ll come from committing deeper to what’s already working.
Keep writing, building, and scaling, my friend.
Big love from my screen to yours,
