They thought I was making a mistake
Hey Reader,
Quick question: Did you ever do something most people thought you shouldn't do? 🤔
I'm asking because most people laughed at me when I told them I started to write online back in 2018. 🥲
My friends tried to convince me that it'd be "too risky" and that "nobody makes money writing."
I don't say that entrepreneurship is for everyone or that everybody should start to write online - I know that there are lots of happy employees and unhappy entrepreneurs.
The problem is, most people will try to discourage you without knowing what you desire deep inside.
When I decided to avoid the traditional path, I knew exactly why I wanted to do it.
I knew running my own business would allow me to live life to the fullest. 🌈
I didn't want to have an annoying boss and follow meaningless rules in my job.
I wanted to build a business I truly loved.
And most importantly, I wanted to be able to choose where to work, when to work, and which projects to work on.
Writing on the internet was my starting point.
Today, I'm living my dream:
- 👩💻 I'm inspiring millions of readers by writing stories on the internet.
- ⏰ I don't work more than 25-30 hours per week.
- 💰 And I make multiple 6-figure profits per year.
Sure, it wasn't always that way.
I had to put in way more hours when I started out because I didn't know how to make money through my writing.
But that's part of the game: You do the work upfront, so you can make strategic moves and smart decisions later on.
Today, I'm able to focus on just a few activities that truly move me forward: Writing, engaging with my community, and developing meaningful products.
I don't know about you Reader, but I hate being busy.
I like having lots of time for the things I care about, and I looove having an empty calendar. 🗓
When I decided to become my own boss, I had no idea if it'd work out. I knew what I wanted, but I didn't know how to achieve my goals.
Taking that leap and saying goodbye to the traditional path was scary, but ignoring my deepest desires would've been way more difficult.
If you're not 100% happy with how things are in your career right now, it might be a sign it's time for change. 🔁
If there's one thing I learned over the last few years, it's that most big rewards require big risks.
"Success" takes risks, sacrifices, and lots of courage. That's why most people decide to stay in a miserable job instead of taking the leap and following their hearts. 💕
The problem is that most people only look at the downsides.
They ask themselves what could go wrong.
So I have a little challenge for you today, Reader: Think of one thing you're afraid of right now.
- 💻 Are you afraid of publishing your first piece of writing online?
- ❤️🩹 Are you afraid of writing a story that's deeply personal and vulnerable?
- 📰 Are you afraid of sending your work to a big, popular publication?
- 📥 Are you afraid of finally starting your email list?
Whatever it is, I want you to ask yourself this question now: What's the *BEST* possible thing that could happen if you just do it?!
Instead of drowning in negative what-ifs, allow yourself to explore the other side: What if it works? What if taking the leap is 100% worth it? What if publishing ONE article on the internet could lead to your life's greatest opportunities?
The truth is, life's too short to be lived based on fears.
We're living in an age that allows us to build million-dollar businesses by sitting in our homes, using nothing more than our computers and the internet.
And yet, people are complaining about how it's "hard" to build an audience and income online. 🤦♀️
It's not.
The opportunity is right here - waiting for you to grab it.
Building your own thing, being your own boss, and creating your own reality has never been easier.
I'm making six figures per year doing what I love, and you can do the same if you allow yourself to start small and make progress each day.
Taking the first steps might feel scary, but the results will be worth your worries.
