{But why aren't you doing THIS?} - Every internet guru

Hey Reader,

There's a type of conversation I've had at least 73 times over the past five years.

It takes place when I meet a new business guru/social media expert and usually starts like this:

But why aren't you also publishing on [insert content platform]?!
You could easily build a large following there as well!

Here's the full story: I've been writing on the internet since 2018.

I've been doing this full-time since 2020, have over 100k followers across different platforms, and send emails to more than 25k subscribers every week.

Yet, I'm not publishing on Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram, and many of the other "must-have" platforms.

Even just thinking of being active on all these different places at the same time makes me want to lie down.

My point is, I like simplicity - especially in business.

And let's be honest: Figuring out how to master one platform is hard enough.

It took me over two years to fully leverage Medium and reach a large audience there.

But once I got it, I took full advantage of my reach for years.

And I only added a new channel to my business last summer: Substack.

When my friend Michael Simmons asked if I'd like to participate in his Note-writing cohort last year, I was hesitant.

It took me three calls to understand how Substack could be a relevant addition to my business.

Since I wasn't looking for a new email marketing tool (I love Kit!) and wasn't looking to replace Medium, Substack had to have an additional benefit to be worth my time and attention.

Looking back, it took me way too long to understand what those benefits are (here goes my public apology to my co-founders Philip and Jari, who have been much more excited about Substack than I was 😆).

After a few weeks on the platform, I finally understood what the Substack hype was all about.

Substack is not an email platform - it can be, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.

It's not a social network either (even though it has many features that remind you of them).

It's also not similar to Medium because it's heavy on community and collaboration features, which don't exist on Medium.

Instead, Substack is a powerhouse for creators, writers, and entrepreneurs who want to:

  • Grow their audience
  • Connect and collaborate
  • Build their own content hubs
  • Monetize their work independently
  • And nurture long-term relationships with readers

I wish I had put more of my resources into the platform sooner.

But hey, I can't change the past (sadly.)

What I can do is help you avoid my mistakes and take advantage of Substack's massive growth opportunities while they're still hot.

My team and I have spent the past three months preparing a brand-new live training for you, and I'm THRILLED to share that registration is finally open now!

Hey Reader, We're celebrating our 10-month anniversary on Substack this month, and if I'm completely honest, these past few months have had a major impact on our business. But we didn't start the Write • Build • Scale publication with big expectations. In fact, we didn't know what to expect at all. There was so much noise and misinformation about the platform that it was hard to see how exactly we could leverage it for ourselves. Here we are, 10 months later, with 10k subscribers, an...

A golden gear pin is sitting on wood.

Hey Reader, You’re publishing new content. You’re showing up. You’re working hard. But if you zoom out, you realize you're stuck running on a hamster wheel because more effort doesn’t necessarily equal more growth. And you struggle to achieve your (financial) goals even though you keep showing up. Sound familiar? Well, you're not alone. The painful truth is that this is the reality of most creators. Movement doesn't necessarily equal progress. That's why you need systems that can turn into...
