Write Better, Build Smarter & Scale Faster
Welcome to the Write • Build • Scale Sunday Digest, where we help you write better, build your audience, and scale your income through quick tips and actionable resources.
This week, we're starting with a question almost all digital writers ask themselves at some point..
Should You Write for Money?
Writing online is one of the most attractive ways to make money in the creator economy.
But let’s be honest: If you’re only doing it for the money, you might be missing the point.
The truth is, writing has a far bigger ROI than your Stripe dashboard can show.
It can help you:
- land your dream clients
- get discovered for your next big opportunity
- stand out when applying for your next job
- build clarity about your future
- and connect with like-minded people
I’m getting married this year, and the first thing I do when I look for a new service provider is to check their websites and social profiles.
If someone looks credible and feels relatable, I’ll reach out and ask for an offer.
The more I can learn about them, their philosophy, and their work, the better.
If I don't find any information online, I won’t even bother calling.
That’s how the world works today.
If you don’t show up online, you’re invisible.
But if you do show up—especially with thoughtful, relevant writing—you instantly create trust and leverage.
It doesn't matter whether you’re an employee, freelancer, coach, or still figuring out your path.
I was 20 years old when I started writing online.
I didn’t have anything figured out.
I just knew I wanted to build a location-independent digital business so I could live life on my own terms.
And I quickly realized that writing is one of the best ways to explore your ideas, attract opportunities, and build a legacy.
So no—you don’t have to write for money.
But if you stick with it, money might become one of the side effects of showing up and doing work that matters.
But What If You DO Want to Monetize?
Well, in that case, you might want to check out our newest post on how to make an extra $500/month by writing on Substack.
It breaks down five strategies you can use (or optimize) to start earning (more) through your writing.
Write for ONE Person
When in doubt, stop trying to impress everyone.
Think of one person you’d love to help, inspire, or connect with—and write just for them.
That’s when your writing gets clear and starts to resonate.
And ironically, that’s when it begins to reach the people you want most.
What are you training for right now—in life or business?

Keep writing, building, and scaling!
