Write Better, Build Smarter & Scale Faster

Welcome to the Write • Build • Scale Sunday Digest, where we help you grow your audience and income with simple strategies, creative ideas, and zero fluff.

This week, we’re diving into one of the most underrated growth levers for creators.

Collaboration Is Your Superpower

Most creators try to do it all alone and burn out in the process.

After 7 years of creating content, here’s what I’ve learned: Collaboration creates leverage.

When different people share a vision but bring different strengths to the table, everyone moves faster, goes further, and has a lot more fun along the way.

Collaborations have been our #1 growth strategy to build a 40,000+ subscriber community—yet most new creators overlook it for far too long.

I've recently written about why collaborations can be so powerful and how you can start to leverage them in your own career:

How to Start Collaborating—Even If You’re “Not Ready Yet”

All you need to start meaningful collaborations and partnerships is the courage to actually step out of your comfort zone.

Here are a few simple ways you can do that today:

  • Co-/Guest-Write a Post: Team up with another creator in your niche and write a joint newsletter issue together. Or write guest posts for each other's audiences. (The piece I shared above is a guest post I have written for another creator. She recently invited me to speak at her summit, which I couldn't make. But we hopped on a short call and discussed potential cooperation opportunities, which led to the guest post.)
  • Share & Shoutout: Highlight someone’s post or product in your own newsletter. A genuine endorsement can open the door to deeper partnerships.
  • Run a List Swap: Feature each other’s newsletters in a short email intro. A 2-sentence exchange can lead to new subscribers for both partners—no algorithm required.
  • Host a Jam Call: Invite someone to a casual Zoom chat to explore collaboration ideas. Be aware that this only makes sense when you have a good understanding of the other person's audience and goals so you can actually provide value to them.

Here's a simple script you can use as a starting point:

Subject: Big fan of your work—want to connect?
Hey [Name],
I’ve been reading your newsletter and really enjoying your take on [topic]. I’d love to hop on a short call to exchange ideas and explore if there’s a fun way we could collaborate.
No pressure at all—just a casual jam session if you’re up for it.
Let me know!
—[Your Name]

You never know where one conversation might lead.

🎥 Turn Casual Readers Into Lifelong Customers

On Thursday, we hosted a powerful workshop on how to turn casual readers into lifelong customers.

Inside, we covered:

  • 💡 The Substack Customer Journey: How to identify where you're losing people—and how to fix it.
  • 🕒 Why Timing Beats Content: One simple timing tweak that increased our conversions by 5x (real case study included).
  • 🤝 Trust-Building Tactics: Three easy strategies we use every single week to build reader trust.
  • 📈 Behind the Scenes of Our 100+ Subscriber Promo: See what worked (and what we’ll do differently next time).
  • 🔑 An Overlooked Conversion Technique: This tiny change made a big difference—and most creators miss it.

One Last Nudge Before You Go…

Most creators think growth = grind.

But in reality, growth = connection.

You don’t need to hustle harder to reach the next level.

You just need to team up smarter.

So this week, ask yourself:

  • Who’s someone I already admire that I could reach out to?
  • What strengths do I bring to the table?
  • What’s one way I could make collaboration feel easy and fun?

Keep writing, building, and scaling!
