Write Better, Build Smarter & Scale Faster
Welcome to the Write • Build • Scale Sunday Digest, where we help you write better, build your audience, and scale your income through quick tips and actionable resources.
This week, we’re talking about the one thing that stops most creators from building a real business:
Monetization.
Why Is It SO Hard to Get Paid for Your Work?
Let's be honest for a second: Financially successful creators are rarely the most talented or smartest ones.
They're not necessarily the best writers or storytellers.
They don't have the best ideas or even the largest audience.
But they have courage and the stamina to follow through on their ideas and goals.
If you’re stuck trying to figure out how to make money from your content, do this:
- Stop trying to do 10 things at once.
- Pick one project to finish. (Whether that's creating your first digital product like an online course, winning your first sponsor, setting up a paid newsletter, or landing a freelancing client.)
- Use in-demand learning to find the exact info you need—and ignore the rest.
- Focus on creating something so amazing that you actually feel good talking about your product offer or service. That's the most underrated "trick" to get better at selling and making more money.
The Mindset Shift That Saved Me
I recently got asked what helped me feel confident when charging for my work.
Here's my answer:
“For me, it was a personal shift. I realized that even though I love my work, I don't love it more than being able to step away from my computer and spend time with my friends and family.
If I want to live freely and enjoy life to the most, I have to be able to create great work efficiently and know how to charge for it. Because otherwise, I will be glued to my desk for endless hours with no results to show.”
Here are 3 other mindset shifts that can help you feel more confident about getting paid:
- 🙌 People want to pay for things that help them solve problems.
- 🙌 You can love what you do and get paid for it. That’s not selling out. That’s sustainability.
- 🙌 Charging for your work isn’t selfish—it’s how you honor the value you bring to others.
If you don’t charge, you’ll burn out.
If you do charge, you give yourself the freedom to keep going—and keep helping others through your work.
