Hey Reader, How are you? Like, how are you really? 🫶 Emotions and noise have been high across the internet this week, which is why I decided to remain rather silent the past few days. Well, that and the fact that I've hosted daily Coaching and Onboarding Sessions for our newest members at Write • Build • Scale. 😅 If you've been following my work for a while, you might know that I've always been a huge believer in community, feedback, accountability, and peer learning. That's why we've been offering live cohorts and a private membership for years. And yet, our feelings about the importance of community have been further amplified over the last few months: Don't get me wrong: We've sold thousands of self-study courses over the past few years. And we'll continue to offer them. But our most successful clients are those who leverage our communities, join coaching sessions, ask for feedback, and take action quickly. Courses can be a goldmine or a waste of time - depends on how you use them. Community and coaching, on the other hand, are a safer bet to make quick progress because you're being held accountable by peers and teachers who want to see you succeed. After onboarding dozens of new members at Write • Build • Scale, many of them joined their first coaching sessions this week and yesterday, I received this message: Andrea submitted his first article for a review yesterday. It was a piece about how he sabotaged himself while trying to grow his creative business after quitting his high-paying tech job last year. The article was beautiful, creative, and full of vivid metaphors. Yet, it didn't get many views because:
We took 30 minutes to review Andrea's piece so he knew exactly what to do differently in the future. Even though I saw his excitement and gratitude during the session, I had no idea how much the review would boost his confidence in his work. As a writing/business coach, my primary goal is to help you grow your audience + income. But I see so many new writers struggling to share their truth because of limiting beliefs and fears. And that's why community and coaching matter. Your message, knowledge, and ideas are worth sharing, Reader. But while you do so, make sure you build a support system of peers and coaches who hold you accountable and encourage you to keep going when things get hard and confusing. My team and I are currently building a program we've never offered before. Would you mind taking a minute to reply to this email and share your #1 challenge as a writer right now? Where are you currently publishing your work?
How are you growing your audience?
And how are you making money?
I'd love to know more about your current challenges so we can build resources that are truly useful. 🧡 |

Hey Reader, Last week, I shared my 2024 business review with you, and over the weekend, I got a bunch of replies related to one of the key lessons I shared. Hey Reader, I became a full-time writer in 2020 and have since written any kind of content you can think of: Personal stories Listicles Reports How-to guides I also worked as a freelance/ghostwriter and published dozens of pieces with and for my clients.
